"بيروت، طريق الجديدة": لقاء مع يحيى جابر وزياد عيتاني

على مسرح لا تتعدى مساحته بضع أمتار مربعة، إستطاع يحيى جابر أن يجسد تاريخ منطقةٍ بأكملها وأن يعيد رسم عمرٍ كاملٍ من النزاعات الطائفية والسياسية والعائلية.

قليلٌ من المال وكثيرٌ من الحب كان رصيده، فإذا به يحصد نجاحاً تخطى توقعاته. خاطر وراهن على شاب لم تطأ قدميه خشبة المسرح من قبل وربح رهانه فأسكت كل المشككين.

كان لنا الحظ لنجلس معه ومع الممثل زياد العيتاني ودار بيننا نقاش طويل، تمنينا لو طال أكثر. لن نخفي تفاجأنا ورهبتنا بحضورهما سوياً للقائنا، لكنهما ومنذ اللحظة الأولى، أشعرانا بتواضعهما براحةٍ كبيرة وعاملانا بجديةٍ واحترام على الرغم من انشغالاتهم الكثيرة.

حوارنا معهما تناول مسرحية "بيروت، طريق الجديدة" ومشاريعهما المستقبلية.

 "بيروت، طريق الجديدة"

طريق الجديدة إسمٌ مبهمٌ نقله يحيى جابر من عتمة الأحكام المسبقة إلى ضوء مسرحٍ راح يشع فرحاً وصدقاً مع كل كلمة وحركة أداها زياد عيتاني.

تسرد هذه المسرحية تاريخ منطقة طريق الجديدة من خلال حوالي 15 شخصية واقعية وحقيقية، تداور زياد عيتاني على تجسيدها منفرداً. دفّ، كرسي، منقل فحم، شرشف ونرجيلة هي كل ما احتاجه هذا الصحافي الموهوب على المسرح. فأتت الرسالة التي أراد جابر إيصالها إلى "أولاد الكار" واضحةً جلية "ان ضخامة الإنتاج واسم الممثل لا يهمان إذا اجتمعت الموهبة بالعمل الحثيث".

كل شخصية درست بدقةٍ وعنايةٍ (تطريز هي الكلمة التي استعملها جابر) لكي تعكس وجهاً من وجوه المنطقة بدون تجريحٍ ومبالغة. تكملة النص جاءت بأداءٍ متقنٍ من زياد عيتاني الذي تنقّل بين جميلة الداعوق، رشدية، عمر الترك، أبو العبد وغيرهم من الشخصيات بخفةٍ وأناقةٍ. زياد يعزو الأمر إلى التعب والجهد الذي قام بهما وإعداده بشكلٍ قويٍ من قبل المخرج. هو عادةً مهملٌ وفوضوي، لكنه، ومنذ بدء العروض، بات أكثر مسؤلية، فلا بديل له إن لم يستطع أن يؤدي الدور.

على مدى أكثر من ستة أشهر، حوّل يحيى جابر زياد عيتاني من شابٍ موهوبٍ إلى ممثلٍ محترفٍ: "تعاملت معه منذ البداية على أنه سيصبح نجماً، وليس كمجرد هاوٍ. وقد واجه صعوباتٍ كثيرةٍ، إلا أن شجاعة زياد وإيمانه بنفسه سمحا له بتخطيها. إعداد زياد كممثل تطلب الكثير من الجهد، فتأديته ما يقارب الساعتين على المسرح منفرداً يحتاج إلى جهدٍ جسديٍ ونفسيٍ بالإضافة إلى الليونة والحركة".

تقسم المسرحية إلى جزئيين. فبينما يتناول الجزء الأول الناحية الاجتماعية لمنطقة طريق الجديدة، عارضاً الاختلافات القائمة بين العائلات، يأتي الجزء الثاني ليتناول المواضيع السياسية عبر مراحل التاريخ، بدءًا من قبل اندلاع الحرب اللبنانية وصولاً إلى الحاضر.

بذكاءٍ وصدقٍ شديدٍ قاد جابر المسرحية، فلم يتخذ طرفاً في أيٍ من النزاعات ولم ينزلق في لعبة المواعظ أو الأحقاد. حتى تواريخ 14 شباط و-7 ايار نقلت بطريقةٍ هادئة ومسالمة.

أما رسالتهما من هذا العمل فقد اختصراها بهذه الكلمات "رسالتنا بسيطة. نريد أن نأخذ حكايات الناس ونعيدها لهم من خلال الفن وأن نشجع اللبنانيين على أن يتعرفوا على بعضهم. تنوعت الآراء حول هذه المسرحية بين مشككٍ ومعارضٍ، ولكن، مع بدء العروض، تأكد الجميع اننا لا نسخر من أحد فأصبحت المسرحية عابرة للمناطق."

العمل القادم

العمل القادم سيتناول منطقة الاشرفية. يؤكد جابر أنه ليس خائفاً من تقبل الناس له، لأنه سيقاربه بنفس المحبة والصدق التي قارب بهما "بيروت، طريق الجديدة". وهو سيكون حريصاً على عدم الوقوع في فخ التكرار وال-Clichés

أما زياد، فيعتبر العمل القادم تحدياً جديداً له، إذ يجب أن يلعب أدوراً جديدةً، بعيدةً عن المنطقة التي ينتمي إليها. وعند سؤاله أن كان يفكر بالالتحاق بأي دروس في التمثيل، أجاب أن التعلم من يحيى جابر أفضل من أي دروس أخرى.

عفوية وإصرار زياد عيتاني بالإضافة إلى احتراف وفكر يحيى جابر، يكّونان شراكةً قويةً وفعالةً أدّت إلى نجاحات مهمة. فالمسرحية تدخل شهرها التاسع على التوالي حاصدةً حوالي ٢٠٠٠٠ مشاهد بأكثر من ١٠٠ عرضٍ (لم يلغى أي واحدٍ منهم). 

مستقبل المسرح اللبناني يبدو واعداً من خلال هذه الشراكة التي نأمل أن تستمر لكي نتمتع بالفن الراقي والجميل التي تقدمه لنا.

أخيراً، لا يسعنا سوى شكر هذين الفنانين الحقيقين على وقتهما وتذكيركم أن "بيروت طريق الجديدة" لا تزال تعرض على مسرح مترو المدينة فسارعوا لحجز أماكنكم.

مسرحية “كلنا تقلا"

مع أنّني لست من محبذي المسرح الديني، قررت أن أشاهد مسرحية “كلنا تقلا" مع والدتي وبعض الأصدقاء بمناسبة عيد الأم. وفعلاً ذهبت بكل انفتاح، واضعةً أفكاري المسبقة جانباً وجلست أتابع.

لكن، على الرغم من كل محاولاتي لم استطع للأسف أن أبقي على شفافيتي خلال العرض.

المسرحيّة مؤلفة من جزأين طويلين لم ينتهيا بسرعةٍ وسهولةٍ بالنسبة لي على الأقل.

حوالي الأربعين ممثل وممثلة، ضاق بهم المسرح، نصفهم لا يعلم ما هو دوره خلال المسرحيّة والباقي يتسلّى بدوره بدون جديّة تذكر إلى حين انتهاء العرض الممل.

حتى الممثلين المحترفين لم يضيفوا شيئاً على العمل، فبالغ يوسف حداد وطوني عيسى في تجسيد دور الوالي وبولس تباعاً، أما نيلّلي معتوق فكانت غير مقنعة تماماً. 

أما بالنّسبة للنصّ، فكان دمجاً بين الأحداث التاريخيّة والحاضر بمحاولةٍ لاستعطاف المشاهد وتخويفه من الإضطهاد من خلال مقاربة ما حدث مع القدّيسة تقلا مع ما يحدث اليوم في سوريا، والانطلاق منه إلى حثّ المسيحي على عدم بيع أرضه "للمضَطِهدين". هذا عدا عن الحوار الذي يتأرجح بين العاميّة والفصحى من دون قاعدة واضحة وفعّالة.

مع احترامي الشديد لكل من ساهم وتعب من أجل نجاح هذا العمل، فهو بقي هاوياً وغير محترفٍ على كافّة الأصعدة. 

يبقى أفضل ما في هذه المسرحيّة، الجهد الكبير الذي بذله الجميع والذي احيّيهم من كل قلبي عليه.

300: Rise of an Empire

Have you ever tried the French cuisine? Have you experienced its perfection? If so, you will understand this review because this movie is like a French dish. 

Every scene, every flash of an eye, every drop of blood and every word were deeply and profoundly studied to create a perfect successor to the movie that caught the hearts of millions all over the world. This movie is neither a sequel nor a prequel to "300", it is both at the same time.

It starts with "The battle of Marathon" when Themistocles a Greek soldier killed King Darius of Persia in front of his son Xerxes. Seeking revenge, Xerxes came back to Greece years after declaring war. With the huge Persian fleet led by Artemisia threatening all the Greek, Themistocles asked the council to unit and sought the help of Sparta. The Spartans refused his request and King Leonidas marched to the war with his 300 brave soldiers. Armed by the promise of freedom and a united country, the Greek fleet fought the Persians bravely. But when the Persian seemed to end the war to their favor, Themistocles already knew that the 300 Spartans were dead and sought the help of Queen Gorgo of Sparta asking her to revenge her beloved king.


This movie is a great watch; it takes you back thousands of years, to the era of the great warriors. The director Naom Murro manages to create the perfect atmosphere and I felt completely taken for 102 minutes. All the characters were well-developed and perfectly casted. Eva Green was excellent playing Artemisia; I can even say that she surprised me. 

I enjoyed this movie although I am not really a fan of 300. I had a tough time watching the killing scenes but I admit that they served the large scheme perfectly. 

Like French dishes, this movie is very well done, it is perfect BUT it is not the kind of 
movies that I, personally, crave to see.

"The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine" book review

“Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one-step at a time.”

This book was a great journey, a one that took me to another world where love rules. It made me see that understanding, humanity and friendship exist in each one of us.

Coming from an Israeli Family, Miko Peled is a man who sacrificed his life to put an end to the injustice and discrimination targeting Palestinians. In his book, he retells the events of his works and encourages his people to love and accept others.

After fighting in the wars of 1948 and 1967, Mattityahu Peled an Israeli general and Miko’s father, became a peace activist and was nicknamed by many Palestinian by “Abou al salam”. He worked faithfully for a dialogue between both sides of the conflict, aiming for a life of peace where only humanity would be valued.

Miko’s lived safely in the U.S.A. trying to turn his back to all what was happening in his birth land. Nevertheless, the death of his niece tipped the scales and he found himself concerned about a cause that goes further than his personal life and touches the life of thousands of people.

Being able to feel sympathy toward your supposed enemy, searching for a way to build up amity, and believing that no war can be fair or just, are things that few of us are able to do

Miko Peled did not question his responsibilities towards humanity. He worked and he is still working to make a difference, to give the weak a reason to believe in tomorrow, to give back to the children of Palestine their right of a normal safe life, to create a place for harmony and love between the different zones of war and killing.

In his journey, Miko faced some huge personal barriers and he went through all of them holding his faith in humanity. He went to the other side, to the enemy quarter, he felt strange and scared but nothing stopped him from following the voice of his conscience.

Dear Mr. Peled, you gave me a reason to feel safe, you rebuilt hope in me and you made me understand that humanity is far beyond conflicts and nationalities; it exists inside each one of us.

A friend told me once:” I was born in this country out of my choice, I don’t really want to spend my life trying to make it better”.

My friend, now I have the answer: “When you try to make a change in this world you are not doing it for “your country”, you are doing it for yourself. Being Human is a responsibility that you carry on your shoulders. If you want to ignore it, this is your choice. However, do you not feel jealous when you see someone working for humanity while you are sitting in front of the TV?”

I absolutely do.

Non-Stop

I often prejudge an action movie as being very predictable and unchallenging. I must admit that it is not actually my favorite genre, but due to many recommendations, I watched Non-Stop and even though I quiet enjoyed it, I have some issues that I need to share.

Non-stop is a fun movie to watch, it does not bore you but at the same time does not offer you anything new.

One of the clearest weaknesses of this movie is the unfinished cycle of accusations. This very predictable step to make us doubt certain characters, then turn them out to be innocent became very annoying at some point.

Moreover, speaking about the plot, I have to mention the insufficient way in which the different motives of the crime were explained.

The key in this kind of movies is that the audience must be intimidated by the bad guy and intrigued to reveal his mystery. He must believe the threat in order to root for the good guy. It was not the case here, the bad people were simply not challenging enough and the story behind their actions was not convincing or profoundly treated, but despite that, you’ll like the action that this movie offers.

Also, there is something about Liam Neeson that attracts me enough to tolerate this kind of movies. He is just so pleasant to watch and very charismatic.

In conclusion, if you have some time to spare and could not find another movie that interests you, you can watch Non-Stop and have some instant fun.

بمسرح بابل التقيت بلبنان مختلف، بناس طيبين، حلوين، بناس بيشبهو بيروت يلّي كنا نسمع عنّا، بيروت الطيبة يلّي قلبا بساع لكل. التقيت بناس بدا تعيش وتخلي غيرها يعيش، بناس ما نسيت إنّو كلنا ولاد بلد واحد. كمان بذات الوقت ، التقيت بناس طائفين وحاقدين صرلن سنين ومش عرفين عا شو، بناس عم تستعمل الدين لتفرق، بناس زرعوا بقلوبن من هني وزغار رفض الآخر والعنف ... وكل هل الشخصيات جسدا إنسان واحد وقف ساعتين على المسرح، خلّاني فيون أضحك وأبكي وإكتشف إنو ايه بعد في أمل... إنّو في ناس هون وهونيك وبكل محل قادرة تشوف وتميّز وتحلم ...

وتستمر المسيرة...

في الأمس أعطى الشعب اللبناني معنًى جديدا للثامن من اذار، فمشى رجاله ونساؤه الأحرار من المتحف الوطني إلى قصر العدل للاحتجاج على العنف والتمييز وعدم المساواة تجاه المرأة اللبنانية، وللمطالبة بإقرار قانون حماية المرأة في المجلس 

النيابي، مع كافة التعديلات التي تطالب فيها جمعيات المجتمع المدني.

الشرفاء لم يخيبوا الظن، فلّبى الألاف نداء الاستغاثة الذي أطلقه سقوط عدة ضحايا في الأشهر الماضية ،ليقولوا كفى ظلماً وسكوتاً عن الحقّ، لم يعد مقبولاً أن نختبئ خلف التقاليد والاديان التي تشرّع استبداد الرجل بالمرأة وتستر على أمراضه.

في الأمس كانت خطوة من مشوار الألف ميل الذي بدأ ولن ينتهي إلا بتحقيق حريتنا من دون مساومة.

The list of shame

No excuse is acceptable. No explanation is valid. 
The sad truth is that our beloved deputies really don't care about our rights. Our fine delegates, who did a great job in their first term and well deserved its extension, certainly didn't care about women rights. 
But if they don't care, it's our responsibility to make them care. It’s our obligation to take control and prove that we are worthy of a country. After all, it is the citizens of Lebanon, his women and men, who elected them and it is us who shall "judge" them. 
History taught us that no country can progress without the freedom and equality of all its citizens. How could we build a developed and modern society when women are beaten until death and the criminals wander our streets free and safe? 
Sweet words are not enough to bring the death into life, to give the orphans the mother they lost, to wipe away years of suffering and abuse. 
Each woman we know, deserves our support and protection. Each woman we know, deserves one hour of our time!
Join us on Saturday 8 March at 2pm at Mathaf to demand our rights for a better life and to remind the parliament that his duty is to protect the people by legislating modern laws that insure the equality and justice for everyone. Join us so that the list of shame which now includes 128 names would not include 4 million names.
